Transfusion Medicine Fellowship

The Columbia University Department of Pathology and Cell Biology and the New York Blood Center offer a jointly-sponsored, two–three year, ACGME-accredited fellowship in transfusion medicine, which is designed to provide in-depth experience leading to a research-oriented academic career.

The clinical training provides experience in all areas of transfusion medicine, including blood collection and processing, transfusion therapy in inpatient and outpatient settings, therapeutic apheresis, stem cell processing and transplantation, including cord blood collection, and HLA testing. In addition, at least 12 months of intensive research training is expected, with a mentor chosen from either Columbia University Medical Center or the New York Blood Center.
