Blood vessels undergo rapid functional and structural changes—known as angiogenesis and vascular remodeling—in various pathological conditions. The Kim Lab focuses on understanding how vascular dynamics influence disease progression, with particular emphasis on the following areas:
- Liver metastasis of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors — developing effective strategies to delay metastatic progression by modulating the tumor microenvironment, specifically through targeting the tumor vasculature.
- Vascular regulation of immune suppression — investigating how tumor vascular remodeling contributes to T-cell exclusion and immune evasion within tumors.
- Blood-brain barrier disruption in Alzheimer’s disease — elucidating how vascular dysfunction accelerates neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration.
