From Bench to Track: “We Run Labs” Team Powers Through the CUIMC Relay Marathon
A highlight of Lab Week for some members of CPTL and PGM labs was stepping away from the lab bench and coming together as a team to compete in the CUIMC Team Relay Marathon, which took place from April 22nd through 25th. After months of training and days of carbo loading on Lab Week food offerings, the "We Run Labs" team hit the world-class Armory Indoor Track with determination and team spirit.
Circling the track like tubes in a well-balanced centrifuge, they pushed their lactates to critical values while cheering labmates kept the energy high. With seamless coordination, the team rotated through each leg of the race, completing all 211 laps with the kind of accuracy and precision that would impress even the most rigorous method validation.
After crossing the finish line, the feelings of accomplishment rivaled those of acing a lab inspection. "Now I can finally rest", said no one, although the moment called for rest, because they had to get back to work in the lab. Most participants are already looking forward to next year's race, though one teammate was heard exclaiming "I'm never running again!".
