Patrice F. Spitalnik, MD has been promoted to the title of Professor of Pathology and Cell Biology, the announcement confirmed September 2017. Dr. Spitalnik is the Associate Director of the MD/PhD Program at Columbia University Medical Center. An award-winning member of the department's teaching faculty, Dr. Spitalnik teaches general and surgical pathology to second and third year medical

students and students in the MD/PhD program. Along with managing a clinical graduate program in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Medicine into Graduate Program at Columbia University, Dr. Spitalnik also finds time to teach science to middle and high school students in the Washington Heights neighborhood where Columbia University Medical Center is located.

Of her role in the department, Dr. Spitalnik said:

I am honored to be able to work with so many respected and talented faculty members in our department. It is also a privilege to direct courses and teach students in our histology and pathology courses at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
