Overview

Dr. Vlad Korben is a neuropathologist and Assistant Professor practicing at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He received his MD from Novosibirsk State University and his PhD in Pathobiology and Mechanisms of Disease from Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Korben signs out surgical pathology and surgical neuropathology cases, including brain tumors, epilepsy surgery specimens, vascular lesions, and infectious and inflammatory conditions of the central nervous system.
Dr. Korben's research interests center on leveraging the unique collection of post-mortem human tissue available through the New York Brain Bank (NYBB) to study the neuropathology of ALS and frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD), including rare genetic subtypes. This work bridges clinical neuropathology and translational research, offering insights into disease mechanisms and the tissue-level effects of emerging therapies.
