It’s clear the virus can get very close to the brain. It’s less certain if virus can penetrate deeper and invade it. It will take years to more fully understand the way the virus afflicts the brain.
A new study is drawing the most detailed picture yet of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the lung revealing mechanisms that cause lethal COVID-19 and how COVID-19 differs from other infectious diseases.
"Testing alone is not a sufficient strategy to prevent spread of the virus," says Daniel Green, assistant professor of pathology and cell biology at Columbia University.
