New Promotions and Florence Irving Appointment: Pathology Faculty Recognized for Academic and Clinical Achievements
The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology is delighted to celebrate a season of exceptional faculty achievements, highlighted by the recent appointment of Alison M. Taylor, PhD, as the Florence Irving Assistant Professor of Pathology and Cell Biology in the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC). Dr. Taylor’s three-year term began on July 1, 2025.
The Irving Assistant Professorships, established in 1987 by a generous pledge from Herbert and Florence Irving, are awarded to support leading-edge translational clinical research. Dr. Taylor's appointment represents a significant institutional investment in her work and confidence in her future contributions.
In his congratulatory letter, James McKiernan, MD, Interim Dean of the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and CEO of Columbia Doctors, wrote to Dr. Taylor, “Your appointment is an expression of our support for your work and our confidence in your ability to make significant contributions to academic medicine over the course of your career.”
This prestigious appointment for Dr. Taylor comes as we also celebrate the promotions of several other accomplished colleagues, which were announced earlier this spring.
