Dr. Julie Canman honored with Women in Cell Biology (WICB) Award

Canman receives 2017 WICB Junior Award for Excellence in Research

Julie Canman, PhD Assistant Professor of Pathology and Cell Biology Columbia University

Department of Pathology and Cell Biology faculty member, Julie Canman, PhD was recently awarded the American Society for Cell Biology's Women in Cell Biology (WICB) Junior Award for Excellence in Research for 2017.

This award celebrates early-career women who are "making exceptional scientific contributions in cell biology, is developing a strong independent research program, and exhibits the potential for continuing at a high level of scientific endeavor and leadership," (Source: www.ascb.org). Dr. Canman will be recognized in December during the ASCB EMBO 2017 Meeting in Philadelphia, PA. 

Dr. Canman's research is focused on the molecular regulation of cell division and mechanisms of diversity during cytokinesis. She is an Assistant Professor of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University.
