Frequently Asked Questions

What does the tilde character (“~”) mean in the reference range file?

The tilde character (“~”) indicates that the reference range is not dependent on age or sex. It is also used as the default designation when age and/or sex information is unavailable, unknown, or recorded as other/non-binary and no alternative reference range has been established.

What should I do if there are multiple entries for the same laboratory test?

If there are multiple occurrences of the laboratory test you are interested in, please check the Method column. Some tests may be performed using different methodologies or instruments. For example, glucose may be measured in the main laboratory using Roche automated systems or at the bedside using handheld devices, such as Accu-Chek.
