The Division of Surgical Pathology reviews and makes diagnoses on more than 35,000 cases each year. Among these are approximately 4,000 specimens from outside the medical center and 2,000 cases sent for expert consultation.
The division is directed by Kathleen M. O'Toole, M.D., and has a full time staff of fourteen pathologists.
The faculty has nationally and internationally recognized expertise in breast, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, soft tissue, bone, and liver pathology. The division applies the most current techniques in molecular biology and immunohistochemistry in providing diagnostic services.
